It's super easy to setup a regular internet connection with a PAN capable BT AP (dedicated device or your linux laptop.)

I wrote up what I found with my Belkin BT AP (which costs about $80):

I have the exact same problem - I've tried various solutions intended for Palm/PocketPC (Softick PPP etc) but they don't work since the 770 doesn't really believe that the bluetooth PC it's paired with is a phone. I think what's needed is some software that handshakes with the 770 as if it's (say) some SonyEricsson phone.

In the end (after loads of posting in the ITT forums to try and work this out) I gave up and just set up a rougue AP when I want to show someone somthing on the 770 - in effect that just means I don't use it much :(
