I just called the nokia service point closeby, they can repair it for 125 Euro. Unfortuneatly the display are not in stock ,so they ordered it and will call me as soon as they got it (it might take 3 weeks to get it).

Subject: [maemo-users] screen cracked

It happened to me too a couple of days after the buying: after charging the battery overnight (recommended charging time is around 2 h 20 m) my screen died showing some vertical stripes all blurred. I took it to my dealer and got a new one for free in the same day I noticed (I was was lucky it was open and there were some units in stockage).
It seems to me there is a strange connection between the tactile screen subsystem and the powering subsystem as clued by this effect and by the message that appears on the screen during charge (it should last only for some seconds).

Also, a suggestion for Nokia 770 v2: a scroll wheel next to to the zoom button would greatly improve the usability of the device :)

Dear All,

I just received my device last week. I bought it from someone who did
not see the value of it. I love my 770, but unfortuneatly yesterday I
got a little accident. My screen got cracked and my device became
unusable. Does anyone know whether this can be fixed (by Nokia or by me) and
what it will cost to fix it?

Regards,

Marcel
