Some ideas, from this scenario, could be brought into my tablet.

Regular applications that do not need root, can be installed right away
(with just the Nokia butt-cover warning).
If I run or want to install an application that needs to mess with the
system I can type in my admin password (along with the usual Nokia
butt-cover warning).

We actually have that already.  Packages in the "user" section,
literally, can be installed via the application manager by clicking
through the dialogs.   Packages that *aren't* in the user section,
such as libs and other system packages, have to be installed either in
red pill mode or via the command line after gaining root.  Both
methods are at least as involved as entering an admin password at a
prompt.
