We have a similar problem on our campus. We did finally convince the admins to allow any OS on the network and to finally offer wireless. But the wireless is extremely limited based on ports. Is there anyway other than setting up a proxy server at my house to use VOIP on N800 through ports I could specify such as 80 or some of the ports typically used for secure communication. It appears they only restrict ports and not what goes over the open ports. I want to be able to purchase a phone number(don't really care which company) or use Google talk so my wife or the day care could call me on-campus even if I'm not in my office. I'm not a big fan of cell phones especially since I usually have wifi were I am. By the way getting them to open more ports is a no win situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.
