I don't know the answer to your question, but it's not so strange, at
least on the n800: there are various reports on tma (mine included)
about screens failing in a similar way after around 1 year of use.
Maybe now it's the turn of the 810 :-(
A replacement screen (if you find it) will probably cost more than a
"new" tablet from ebay.
