It's just a workaround to avoid the bug. If you use a font which not includes asian characters, the squares will show up. Please refer to the following pic for how I change default asian font: http://img852.imageshack.us/i/libreofficefontsetting1.png I don't know exactly where it hides in ~/.libreoffice, though.
