In my install where I updated from Mandriva 2010.2 to Mageia, in kde4,
I can use alt+ctrl+esc, to change the mouse cursor to a skull and
crossbones, and then click on a window to kill it.

In my clean install of Mageia, it seems to be acting like ctrl+w
(close window).

Hmm, how do you see the difference between "closing a window" and
"kill a window"?

Install and run pysol. Press alt+ctrl+esc. With my updated 2010.2,
the skull & crossbones appear, and I can click on the pysol window
to kill it.

With a clean install of mageia, the pysol game gets minimized and
paused.

Usually I've used it when a web browser hits a site that causes a
javascript loop, or a program otherwise becomes unresponsive.

I can use alt+f2, and run xkill (which I installed, trying to fix
this), which works, but not the keyboard shortcut.
