Please open a bug report instead of sending a mail.
Paste output of "lspcidrake -v|egrep -i 'net|ath'"
Also attach (ie do not paste) your dmesg output to the BR.
There was a similar forum post for atk_htc, it just needed a newer firmware,
maybe you can adapt that to ath5k module:

I'll update kernel-firmware-extra (and kernel-firmware) to get the new
firmwares for atk_htc available in cauldron...

for ath5k there is no firmware to update as it does not load any...
So we reeally need a bugreport to see what's up...
