I'm sorry, but I don't understand what problems this third option would

It looks like my question has been forgotten among the daily flow of messages,
but I'm still interested by the answer.
I've wondered about this a fair bit myself.
I think the thought was that if everything from mdv2010.1/2 was replaced
by packages from mga1, then everything should work.
However, a lot of packages from mdv2010.1 didn't make it to mga1, so on
reflection, I would say that this option could well increase the
likelihood of problems.
Particularly things like missing/ differently configured drivers,
packages that depend on particular versions of other packages, etc.
Of course, I'm only speculating ... :)
