Actually i don't get that reasoning. You want to care for some packages.
This is the same as being their maintainer. And i think it's pretty difficult
to do worse than having no maintainer at all.
You can already help solve problems on any package without being the
maintainer.
True ... but my idea (not very well defined at the moment) ... was that maybe
we could have a list of those interested in gnome, for example, and any time
a gnome package is reported in bugzilla, they would be automatically added to
the cc list of the bug. If someone receives an automatic cc, and they're not
interested, they just remove themselves from the cc -- but at least they are
aware of the bug.
There could be better ways, just an idea.
It would be better than being on the bugzilla mailing list, as few packagers
would want to see every type of bug.
But maybe that could be better handled by saved public bugzilla search lists ?
Or maybe periodically sending out selective bugzilla search lists ?
You know you can have saved searches as you wish?
F.ex. i'm using one showing me Junior Jobs but leaving out new package requests
from the results
https://bugs.mageia.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=runnamed&namedcmd=Junior_job_no_new_packages
ne for Stale bugs which saw no action in the last 90 days
https://bugs.mageia.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=Stale%20bugs%20%2890%20days%29&sharer_id=35
And one which shows me Bug reports with patches:
https://bugs.mageia.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=patches&sharer_id=81
All of those are available from
https://bugs.mageia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=saved-searches ;)
