I would not say pointless, allowing non root user to shutdown the machine makes sense to be part of the security policy of the machine > As it never really worked, I'll kill it from msec and just ship it > statically. Well a lot of what msec does should be updated for current technologies drakx should also be updated to require authorization for actions instead of running as root
