Okay, I have that too - it's just another front-end to CUPS, so it shouldn't make any difference. > > If you run CUPS (go to http://localhost:631/ in your browser) and > > add a printer, what steps are you taking and what errors are you > > getting? The CUPS+Gutenprint model - is it the Photosmart 7150 driver? There's some info here that suggests using a different driver might work, but it could be out of date: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-PhotoSmart_7150 Otherwise it's mostly as I expected (CUPS doesn't find my network printer either, I have to add it and then add the IP address). What connection method are you using? I have two iterations of my Photosmart C6180 set up; one using the socket:// connection and one using hp:/net/Photosmart_C6100_series?ip=192.168.1.4. Both appear to work fine. > But when running a test page printing on those two, both of them > print a big black square on the page (emptying at the same time the > black ink cartridge). > > Deleting and readding the printer does not solve the issue. > > No errors have been encountered while performing these steps. It's a mystery still! Let's keep it out here in case anyone else has a suggestion...
