I have now filed: Bugzilla #2476: the problem mounting a DVD medium
The urpmi / hal problem has been reported while we had this discussion: Bugzilla #3458a 3rd bug (the hostname problem mentioned in my original mail) had already been filed: Bugzilla #2938 (workaround: immediately after boot: do a command-line "hostname <your-host-name>" - that solves the problem until your next boot, than you have to do it again.
