Since quite some time I have a problem with xemacs on cauldron:
My site initialisation file does a check to detect if xemacs is runs as
root. As a function of the result, the background is set to one of two
different colours.
That has worked for something like 30 years on a lots of different
nixes. Now - and at random, works one time, another time not: the test
on user-id and the setting of the colour fail. (And: the rest of xemacs
appears to work as it should).
Has anybody seen a similar problem?
I will try to do some digging into the initialisation file - but would
like to have some more input. Above all, this random element is intreaguing.
