A few days ago I made a normal update on my Mageia 1 system. Since then,
when I click on a link in Thunderbird, instead of opening Opera, as it
used to do, it is now opening Firefox.

If I manually launch /usr/bin/www-browser, Opera is correctly launched.

gconf contains the correct configuration:

$ gconftool -g /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command
/usr/bin/opera -newtab %s

$ update-alternatives --display www-browser
No alternatives for www-browser.

$ xdg-settings get default-web-browser
Opera.desktop

A quick search on the web didn't help much. Not even this one:
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1442&p=10477&hilit=thunderbird+firefox#p10477
because I found anything indicating which browser to use on
Thunderbird's configuration.

Thunderbird reports to be 10.0.3 which matches the package name:
mozilla-thunderbird-10.0.3-1.mga1

Has anyone else seen this? Any idea whether it is a bug in Thunderbird
or a problem in my configuratioon (which used to work well before the
latest update)?

Thanks in advance.Action to what you want to do
Alejandro.

Somewhere along the line between 3.x and 10.x, Mozilla changed how Thunderbird
does this stuff. Try this:

Go to Edit/Preferences/Attachments and see if http and https are on the list.
If they are, change the Action to what you want. But
they probably aren't there in your case, so don't panic:

Change from Attachments to Advanced, General tab, Config Editor. Search for
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http. Both http
and https should come up. Change both to true. Close the Preferences, then
click on an http link. A popup should show up, asking
what to do. Tell it, and be sure to tell it to remember it. This will add it to
the Attachments list, so you can change it later if
you want. Repeat for an https link.

That should do it.

That did it. Thanks!

Now, what the heck have the links to do with attachments??? The guys from
Thunderbird should rethink their configuration...

Alejandro.
