As the OP, my thanks to all who have contributed viewpoints on this, and
particularly to ftg for elucidating how it happened.
I trust the kdmrc functionality is restored, but that discussion will
now take place on bug 5379 I guess. Even though I wish it restored, I
would just say that it has been educational to hear the range of views.
In my other life I am totally welded to a multidisciplinary approach
where different perspectives are critically important and contribute to
the best outcome. This dynamic discussion has certainly shown various
views. At the very least, I will be encouraged to be careful!
