ifcfg-eth0:temp.sav is deleted, and you've seen that the other ifcfg files are properly set up. The batch of files finally completed and I rebooted, full of hope :-) eth0 now has the correct address so I happily set off the next huge batch of copying. I forgot to look at what eth1 was doing. Despite the config file saying that it shouldn't start at boot, it did start. I should have taken it out of NM control. I forgot that the scripts are ignored if NM is in control. So - I'm still working on wireless. I'm not going to stop the batch. It's lateish now so I'll leave it running all night if necessary. At least I'm almost there :-) Anne -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+76S4ACgkQj93fyh4cnBcGNACeMsQ88TNo5Xe7RDn50TWoryMP pagAn3t4xjG0g77DV5D8YldsOWHewRXF =8z20 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
