There were some updates issued to Mageia 1, specifically to avoid problems when updating to Mageia 2. Using the urpmi method from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_Release_Notes#Upgrading_from_Mageia_1 might produce a bootable system, or it might not. I would recommend a clean install.
