Hi all
We currently have hplip packages in Core Updates Testing which need to
be tested. If you have an HP printer and Mageia 2 then you can help :)
To enable you to update packages from Core Updates Testing you need as
root to use: edit-urpm-sources.pl --expert
Place a tick in the Updates column next to Core Updates Testing.
You can enable it as per normal update media and should be able to
update from Core Updates Testing. Please _don't_ install everything you
find there, just the packages relevant to hplip which you can find
listed on the update request here:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5619#c12
Once you have updated just those few please, remember to disable Core
Updates Testing again.
Please check you can still print and scan OK, the HP printing menus are
OK and that there are no regressions. If you are able check duplexing
(printing on both sides of the paper) that would be useful too.
Please feedback your findings onto the bug above and include the
architecture you tested with (i586 or x86_64)
Many thanks from the QA team (who don't have any HP printers!)
Claire
Thankyou for the great response :)
We especially need anybody who is able to test this i586 now on Mageia
2, then it can be validated and will be pushed as an official update if
there are no problems.
Be proud of yourself, you will be helping to make Mageia!
If anybody is interested in joining the QA team then please find our
wiki pages and team info here: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_Team
We are still very short of people in the team and it is a good way to
learn more about Mageia and Linux in general. You get to see parts you
never knew existed and learn a little about alot!
Thanks
Claire
