We ran across a TIFF this past month that can be successfully imaged using Photoshop and other TIFF consumers but the TIFF Library rejects it because the BitsPerPixel doesn't match the SamplesPerPixel. The CMYK TIFF also has an incorrect value for the ExtraSamples attribute. I know it doesn't conform to the TIFF standard but we have a tough time explaining the issue to our customers when other imaging libraries can successfully read the image.
I have a patch for this issue and sent a message to the LibTIFF group without any response. Would the Image Magick community be interested in the patch so we don't have to keep on reapplying it every time we import a new Image Magick version? Regards, David G.
