Hmm. At home my poor old 5.3.8 doesn't make lines either. One difference is
that the 6.2.4 version at work was built with Q8. [ The speed here is
critical. My laborious scheme can produce a 1600x1200 image of any (rescaled)
4:3 portion of an 800MB png in about 1/3 second with help from IM.] Could that
Q8 make a difference? It would surely change something about how pixels are
being counted.
PS, thanks all for the responses. This is kind of baffling.

Hi
It has black lines in it.
Can others reproduce this? Any ideas?
Nope.
Under 6.2.5 neither of your suggestions produces images with black lines in
them.
This is on WinXP.
