I got a multiple TIFF file:

        - 90 pages
        - BitsPerSample: 1
        - Compression: Group 4 Fax
        - X-/Y-Resolution (1 Rational): 300 dpi
        - paper size: A4
        - file size: 9.45 Mb

and I would like to:

        - (1) crop off a scanned black off-zone
        - (2) resize/put in to paper size A4 again
        - (3) resample the X- and Y-Resolution down to 200x200 dpi
        - (4) keep color depth (1-bit) and compression (Group4)

For that, I'm using ImageMagick 6.2.6 on Windows XP SP2 (Linux is
available).

My problems: if I (1) "convert BIG.TIF -crop 3250x2480+0x+0 CROPED.TIF" it's
taken hours and my TEMP directory is blasting: there's a 84 Mb (!!!)
imagemagick file for each (of 90) TIFF page. The steps (2) to (4), I haven't
reached.

How can I avoid such a TEMP files explosion? And why is ImageMagick so slow?

Thank You!
