Hi, I have an urgent problem.

I have tried to convert an rgb image with a rgb icc profile to grayscale
image with a graycale icc profile in many ways.

None of them seems to work!! Has anyone got this to work?

1. When I do for instance (on version 5.5.7)

   mogrify -profile sjm_gray.icc ph.jpg

I get the error: Operating on the wrong colorspace.

2. I also tried a more complicated strategy:
a.) First I converted the colorspace of the image to grayscale
b.) Then I removed the ICC profile from the image
c.) Then I assigned a grayscale Icc profile to the image
d.) when I tried to convert this image to another Icc grayscale
profile I've got the error: Operating on the wrong colorspace

This is the commands I have used:

      mogrify -colorspace gray ph.jpg
      mogrify +profile icc ph.jpg
      mogrify -profile graygamma22.icm ph.jpg
      mogrify -profile sjm_gray.icc ph.jpg

3. Then tried another complicated strategy from the commandline (using the
  latest version of ImageMagick):

a.) First I converted the colorspace of the image to grayscale
b.) Then I removed the ICC profile from the image
c.) Then I assigned a grayscale Icc profile to the image
d.) when I tried to convert this image to another Icc grayscale
      profile
e.) Then I converted the colorspace of the image to grayscale and when
I tried opened this image in Photoshop it had the correct icc-
profile attached, but the conversion of the image was not calculated
in the correct way (I tried to do the same thing in Photoshop)

This is the commands I have used:

      mogrify -colorspace gray ph.jpg
      mogrify +profile icc ph.jpg
      mogrify -profile graygamma22.icm ph.jpg
      mogrify -profile sjm_gray.icc ph.jpg
      mogrify -colorspace gray ph.jpg

Does anyone know how to do the conversion of an RGB image to a grayscale
image with ICC profiles in a better way???
