Thanx. I do not want to resample/resize the image, simply change this 
attribute. Reason being that Quark uses the resolution to render the 
image (in this case a jpeg) on a layout. So I was looking for a way 
to set the resolution to 72dpi without re-jpeging the image.

Perhaps its my installation but 
`mogrify filename.jpg -density 72` hasn't worked either

identify -verbose 
  Rendering-intent: Undefined
  Resolution: 300x300
  Units: PixelsPerInch
  Filesize: 84kb

And I get the same results with `mogrify filename.jpg -density 72x72`

Odd but as it work on *NIX it isn't a major problem.
