That is the box filter, and it isn't odd, just the result of pixel group
averaging (box) if you shrink or expand an image very very slightly.

If you shrink/expand more than about 30% then the effect starts to
dissappear.

Big family reunion in Venlo, Netherlands (with a tour of that country).
But we also plan to visit London, Paris, Berlin, and if it can be
arranged Vienna.  On the way back we have a three night stop over in
Seoul, Korea.
