Overlaying an image in a corner is straight forward.  See...

Watermarking however is not just overlaying a image, it is preparing
and overlaying so as to mark the image to ensure it is copyright
identified, without blocking the image contents.

Their are however other things too.  Generating good watermark images
using logos and font and so on. Methods for doing this are more site
dependant but are useful to know.  For example
