| Question:
| How does 'convert' respond to named pipes? I've tried various
| invocations like the following, but get no output (on my FreeBSD box)
| from convert no matter what command line I try. .
|
| mkfifo stream.yuv
| mplayer -vo yuv4mpeg deepforest01.asf &
| convert -size 640x480 stream.yuv deepforest.png
|
It should work just fine. I input images via pielines all the time,
though not a 'yuv' image.
Does mplayer output to the stream.yuv pipeline!
| jpegtools in the above command line writes to the named pipe
| ./stream.yuv by default, and the mjpegtools use the same default. The
| following is clipped from the mplayer man page, concerning it's yuv4mpeg
| output option:
|
| "yuv4mpeg
| Transforms the video stream into a sequence of uncompressed YUV 4:2:0
| images
| and stores it in a file (default: ./stream.yuv). The format is the
| same as
| the one employed by mjpegtools, so this is useful if you want to
| process the
| video with the mjpegtools suite. It supports the YV12, RGB (24 bpp)
| and BGR
| (24 bpp) format. "
|
Have you tried without the piepline?
