Been experimenting a bit with all of them, and as I can't get them to behave
the way I want them to, I thought I might as well just list an example of what
I want to do. It's really very simple. I have two images
of equal dimensions that are supposed to be lined up side by side. So, I
want to take the first image and double its vertical canvas size so that
I can paste the other image in the sequence in the resulting space, and then
save the product. Any takers?
Best regards

Ah durr. I guess I have a tendency to overcomplicate things. Thanks a lot, that
was exactly what I needed.

I know this program can do what I need but have been unable to get the syntax
right. Using the Command Line, I need to extract the JPG Exif data and output
that to a text file. I think a variation of the convert -verbose command will
do what I need but I am unable to get it to work. Each time I issue the
command at the DOS prompt, it displays the help text.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hi,
Sorry if this is a newbie question (I'm just getting started with Image Magick)!
I'd like to push pixel data into into Image Magick and write out a tif file,
but I'm getting a garbage image. The code looks something like this:
unsigned char *pixelArray = ... (allocate & fill with data).
MagickWandGenesis();
MagickWand *wand = NewMagickWand();
MagickConstituteImage(wand,width, height,"RGB",CharPixel, pixelArray);
MagickWriteImage(wand, "test.tif");
I've omitted error checking for clarity. Like I said, I get a garbage image.
I'm quite sure the pixel array is correct - I've tried a very simple 4x4 pixel
image and verified the data pixel-by-pixel. I've also tried reading in pixel
data from a good image, passing that known good data into
MagickConstituteImage(), and that also generates a garbage image!
I figure there must be some basic setting that I need to do on the wand or the
image to make this work ... can somebody point me in the right direction? I'm
banging my head against the wall here ...
Thanks!
Ken

Here is an example of MagickConstituteImage() that we confirmed works
properly with the latest release of ImageMagick:

Anthony was kind enough to provide me with two methods of getting the exif data
from an image.
Use
convert image.img -verbose info:
OR
identify -verbose image.img
I really need the creation datetime from the image and neither of these
commands provide this information.
I finally found a command that does return the date but it does not appear to
work on thumbnails, which is what I'll be working with:
identify -format '%[EXIF:*]' image.jpg
Is there a command that will extract the datetime from jpg thumbnails?
Thanks

Thanks for the example - that helped to narrow the problem down. I just
figured it out - I was using Microsoft Imaging to look at the generated tiffs,
and it apparently doesn't understand true-color tiffs. When I look at the
tiffs in other programs, they look fine.
Or is there some other incompatibility with MS Imaging and the tiffs that Image
Magick creates?
