| ImageMagick 6.2.9-3 has the -clip-mask option. Use any image as a mask,
| however, an SVG image to define a polygon makes the most sense.

The -extract option is a special read image operator setting that cuts
down images that are being read in. It isn't really a mask or clip-path
as such. It is almost (but more efficient) equivalent to reading the
image and then applying a -crop to the image in memory.

-region, -clip-mask, and -lasso (or whatever it ends up being called)
are clip-paths that limit what parts of an image an operator is being
applied to.

Currently I only have a limited example of -region in IM Examples, in
"Distorting Images"
  http://www.cit.gu.edu.au/~anthony/graphics/imagick6/distorts/#region

This example is however completely inadequate to describe these limiting
options.

I do plan to work on a section on these parts, but I have no idea where
it should be placed in IM Examples.

Just when I think I have explored most aspects of IM, new surprises pop up
;-) It is an amazing image processing package.
