Referring to my own message of Oct 1, I take it by the non-response that there is currently no way to do what I'm suggesting. So I offer it instead as a wish for a future release, unless someone sees why it would be unwise.
I propose STACK:N as the "built-in" name, which would simply refer to the n+1'st image in the stack. convert -size 600x400 xc:white ( -size 100x100 -fill blue -draw "polygon 50,10 10,90 90,10" ) -tile STACK:0 -draw "polygon 50,50 550,350 50,350" filled.png The -tile option is the one that motivates me here, but maybe it would be useful for others. Still, I am worried that there is some reason this would be bad. Tell me what it is, I can take it.
