Well good luck. It's a bloody mess. The installation relies on so many
delegate installs and environment controls set elsewhere that it's not so
much an installation as a hobby.
On a PC the installation is dreamy and handles itself excellently using the
downloadble install files, but on the OS/X Macs I use it's not only taken me
3-4 days to research how to fix these kinds of error messages but then I
have to research it AGAIN for the next Mac. I finally discovered that if I
have two absolutely identical OS/X server units with the OS configured
identically (rare) then I can copy the installed folders from one to
another. That worked for 2 of 6 Mac servers. The other 4 are ongoing
projects.
For critical production work I use the PC environment where I have success
on Windows 2003 Server and bog standard any version desktop OS/S from W2000
to XP Pro/Home.
What really helps for getting it up and running under MacOSX is to use
MacPorts (http://macports.org) to get various libraries installed. Going
this route is actually quite easy once one knows what one is doing.
