Could anyone suggest a way to install PerlMagick (CPAN Image::Magick module)
on a Tiger 10.4 system? I've been trying for a few days
and I'm not getting anywhere.
I have installed imagemagick, imagemagick-dev and imagemagick-shlibs from Fink
binary (apt-get). I've tried both regular and -nox, currently trying -nox.
I'm not havnig any trouble with ImageMagick (that I know of), it's only
perlmagick that causing problems.
There is a verion os perlmagick in Fink Unstable, but it is for perl 5.8.1 and
my OS X 10.4 has perl 5.8.6. I don't want to modify my perl or install a
second version.
No matter what version of Fink I have tried I
get the following make errors when I run perl Makefile.PL:
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good

Note (probably harmless): No library found for -ltiff
Note (probably harmless): No library found for -lfreetype

Note (probably harmless): No library found for -lICE
Note (probably harmless): No library found for -lX11
Note (probably harmless): No library found for -lXt
Writing Makefile for Image::Magick
(and then running make fails completely)
I have tried adding -I/sw/include and -L/sw/lib to the Makefile.PL (as
suggested in many archived mailing list postings) but it does
not help or change the error messages. I've also tried adding the switches on
the commandline during "make" and tried various environment variables I've
found suggested on Apple's website, Fink's website and various mailing lists.
Does anyone know how to successfully install perlmagick on OS X? I've seen
quite a number of posts to mailing lists from people who'd have trouble
installing it, but I have not seen any solutions posted.
