| Actually, for some dumb reason it suddenly started working. I had
| walked away after sending that message, had some dinner, came back and
| ran the same script and lo and behold, there's the text. Mystery to me.
|
| However, it seems the previous "bug" I hit upon a while back is
| still present. If a font does not exist, IM will default to running
| ghostscript, or at least tries to, and you end up with 'gs: command not
| found' because the system doesn't have gs on it. It never did. I
| reported this on the 20th last month. At the time I was running 6.2.9-5
| - now I have 6.3.0 and it's still doing it. I don't know if this is
| even addressable or not. On
| http://www.cit.gu.edu.au/~anthony/graphics/imagick5/ it says,
|
| "WARNING: If the font requested is not found, Imagemagic will
| silently substitute a default font, which is very plain in looks....."
|
| However, where is this default font coming from? What if the system
| has no fonts at all on it (TTF or otherwise)? The Generic.ttf font that
| resides in the demo folder of IM's tar file doesn't get installed
| anywhere on the system (as far as I can tell) so I'm somewhat curious as
| to where this 'default font' comes from, and why IM continues to try and
| run ghostscript when it fails to find a font.
|
I believe we determined last month that the final absolute end of the
font search is to attempt to use ghostscript, when all else fails.

There is also has very little warnings in the situation the requested
font is not found.

Why this is happening to you is a mystery, though there was an update in
the latest beta to do with ghostscript on PC's.

In the mean time specifying the font as a font path to a ttf font file.
and see if you can use it.

Also try thing like..

   convert ..path..to../Font.ttf font_test_image.jpg

and see is IM read the font file correctly.
