After many many tests montage binary goes to crash anytime.
Also montage binary in your OS X darwin distribution
(http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php) goes to crash.
I have build in many ways but montage always goes to crash. The other
binaries are OK. Only montage goes to crash with these errors:

7 start + 48
I've tested ImageMagick 6.3.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.8 with GCC 4.0.1.
My configure:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/imagemagick --without-x
--with-quantum-depth=8 --enable-shared --enable-static --without-perl
All useful libs (png, tiff, jpeg, ...) are present
