Hello everybody!

How can I convert a PNG image to a BMP DirectClass 8bit image.

Is there any way to specify the image class?

Currently I'm trying:

convert -verbose diagramm.png diagramm.bmp
diagramm.png PNG 800x600 800x600+0+0 PseudoClass 25c 8-bit 6.09375kb
diagramm.png=>diagramm.bmp PNG 800x600 800x600+0+0 PseudoClass 25c 8-bit 17.9902kb

which obviously creates a PseudoClass BMP image.

My reference file has the followin specs according to identify:

identify republic.bmp
republic.bmp BMP 120x120 120x120+0+0 DirectClass 8-bit 42.2402kb

I need thes for importing images created by GD::Graph in Spreadsheet::WriteExcel. GD::Graph creates png (or gif) images and Spreadsheet::WriteExcel needs 24bit bmp images.

The conversion is done with PerlMagick but I'm first trying to create the needed format on the shell with convert.

Any help would be great.

Best regards....
