The image is corrupted.  Gimp, for example, reports corruption.  ImageMagick
is not very forgiving with corrupted files because that can lead to security
exploits.  Instead ImageMagick exits when it determines an image does not
conform with the image specification.

Thanks.  I'll look at my producing code. Maybe it's leaving off one
byte or something while saving (suggested by the "Expected 4 bytes,
read 3" in the debug messages)
