The SRPM source is not specific, it will compile into specific RPM's no
problems.

The problem is the other Fedora Core RPM's are set to use a specific
version of IM, and many of these have dependancys by Gnome, so need to
be installed, even if you don't use the IM parts of those packages.
As such while I can forcfully install the latest IM, the rpm depandancys
from these other packages don't like it.

For example to do a system upgrade I remove the current IM, upgrade
which installs the default FC version of IM, then remove that and
re-install the latest IM again.   Arrrggghhhh....

However I have not seen any problems with those packages using the
latest IM, but then I have not throughly tested them either, I am not a
big Gnome user. I think most of them however does not use it for
anything fancy, just a image format conversion for thumbnails and things
like that.
