your fount looks like it was drawn either with a visible stroke color instead of just a fill color, making it thicker. OR with anti-aliasing turned off which make it a lot less smooth. The later appear more likely looking at the staircase aliasing effects visible on the title. How are you adding the text? On what system? Could it be postscript that is being converted to a raster image? See http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/text/#postscript for a good way to improve your results, and make the fonts clearer.
