| I'm processing FITS file (astronomical picture). These Fits are coloured.
| That means they contain 3 layers : One red, one green , one Blue.
|
| When opening them with The gimp, I have an option (Naxis=3) that allowed a
| direct color conversion. On the other hand, it gives me 3 layers.

| With convert (

|
| Does exist a option that could handle this ?
|
Yes and very simply too...
convert myfitfile.fit -combine myfitconverted.jpg
Warning, JPG is a lossy format. if you don't want to loose information
but save it exactly use PNG format instead.
| here is a file for example.

Hmm the test image you gave came upside down. Not sure if it was
rotated or flipped. So you may need to use "-rotate 180" or "-flip"
It actually does not matter if you do this before or after the
"-combine" but it is probably better afterward.
This worked fine for me.
convert 3layerfit.fit -combine -flip 3layerfit.jpg
For other options see

The test image came out ok so I assume the image order was red then
green then blue, otherwise I would also needed to use various
image reordering 'sequence' functions.
