| Hello,
|
| I wrote a webapp using ImageMagick/JMagick. After a while I started seeing
| magick-* files filling up /tmp. I just want to verify that setting the
| environment variable MAGICK_TMPDIR to something else will cause these files
| to be written to this new directory. Also, does anyone know when
| ImageMagick needs to create these temporary files? What operations cause
| these files to be created?
|
When it starts to cache large images due to lack of memory space,
or more typically when creating a temporary file for Postscript and
other external 'delegate' format conversions.

It should clean these up itself.

It may be someing is crashing, or IM is being killed, causing IM to
terminate befor it can clean up.

The MAGICK_TMPDIR environment variable should use the directory
indicated instead. which is a good security measure, or for automatic
script cleanups.
