Works for us:
convert logo: -compress jpeg logo.tif
tiffinfo logo.tif
...
Compression Scheme: JPEG
Type
identify -list format
which version of TIFF are you using? We get
TIFF* TIFF rw+ Tagged Image File Format (LIBTIFF, Version 3.8.2)
Its possible your version of TIFF does not have JPEG compression enabled.
ImageMagick checks to see if the compression is supported. If its not,
it resets it to 'none'.
