G'day folks

I'd like to convert some of my high quality JPEGs from my digital
camera into PS, so I can print them on glossy photopaper on a
HPZ6100-PS plotter, which (only) understands PS. I've tried delving
into the command line options, however I feel like I need some help
from the community. Googl'ing hasn't helped much so far.

Example:
> identify IMG_2023.jpg
IMG_2023.jpg JPG 3888x2592 3888x2592+0+0 8-bit DirectClass 5.342mb 0.000u 0:01

> convert -verbose IMG_2023.jpg tiger.ps
IMG_2023.jpg JPG 3888x2592 3888x2592+0+0 8-bit DirectClass 5.342mb 0.797u 0:01
IMG_2023.jpg=>tiger.ps JPEG 3888x2592 3888x2592+0+0 8-bit DirectClass
58.41mb 0.766u 0:06

> identfy tiger.ps
tiger.ps PS 3888x2592 3888x2592+0+0 16-bit DirectClass 17.39mb

How come the output of the convert command says the file size is
58.51mb and then the identify command mentions something along the
lines of 17.39mb?

How can I specify that I want the PS to be of size A0 (841mm × 1189
mm) with 2400dpi with the best possible quality to print the picture
on glossy paper on the plotter?

Any hints, pointers to FAQs or previous emails regarding such printing
quests are greatly appreciated. I work on a windows workstation right
now, however if it's beneficial I can switch to a Unix/Linux
environment.

I don't really want to install and try to learn how to use the Adobe
product suite just to print out a top quality picture. I can't even
submit a ICC color profile to the printer, so I thought using convert
seems like the best approach to solve this problem. I simply haven't
used it in years and never to perform such a stunt.

Cheers
Roberto
