Sorry,
I realize my error... need to stream to raw and convert back to jpg.
I tried this, but the colors seem to be coming back inverted:
stream -map rgb -storage-type char -extract 2400x2500+50+50 \
bigimage.jpg rgb.raw
convert -depth 8 -size 2400x2500 rgb:rgb.raw lores.jpg
How could I preserve the original colors?
