I have a .png image my client would like to use in a web page header, however it's exceedingly heavy for the page. I tried using IM to both convert it to a .gif, also .png8 but it loses a lot either way, the .gif is marginal and the png8 is unusable. The orginal is 288+ KB. The goal is 30KB -50KB. It needs to remain transparent. In the .gif version we lose the translucent areas (which I can deal with).
