I guess all of this is basically my own fault, because I attempted to
compile the latest version in addition to the one I had already installed
(I think it was 6.5.1). I wanted to have access to the new FFT feature;
that's
why I did all of this actually. I then just deleted the directory with
the newly
compiled version, because of an error message I got (I guess, at the end
of 'make').
Right now, I'm looking for some way to get a clean IM install of 6.5.8-10
(this is the version available through Synaptic; I guess this is an update
from the previous 6.5.1). What would be the best solution to do this?
My impression is that after removing the present version via Synaptic,
there's still some stuff present somewhere that causes the problems
after I installed IM anew.
