This is due to the following change in 1.6.4.x: * "git log --decorate" shows shorter refnames by stripping well-known refs/* prefix. (see: http://lwn.net/Articles/344012/) I have locally modified magit.el to use `git --decorate=full' to workaround this problem with git 1.6.4.x.
