It works fine here: a number of untracked and changed files are shown,
with an unpushed commit, being the current branch "just-one-test". There
are several other branches... everything seems normal.

I'm using git 1.7.0 on Linux, with a customized magit.el (my local
changes do not affect how git output is parsed).

Can you provide extra information, as your git version, magit revision,
OS version?

Does git work fine from the command line? Is the problem solved if you
restart Emacs?

Please paste too the output shown on magit's *magit-process* buffer.
