Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you can do that now: pressing `s' while the cursor on a diff hunk will stage that hunk. If there is a highlighted region, will stage the changes on that region. On both cases the staged changes are automatically removed from the diff. That is explained on the info file, section 6.
