Hey Dave, I often do the same successfully. However:
My natural inclination is to stash them, switch to theother branch, and then hit `a' on the stash in my log view to apply thechanges where I am.
I hit 'a' in the status buffer. That works exactly as you expect it to. I wasn't even aware that stashes are visible in log mode. Have you perhaps confused log with status mode?
