I'm not sure what the usual debian way is in such situations. For sure, some people will appreciate it, so I guess it should be made available somehow. But once installed, magit behavior is significantly different from the one described in the manual, so I guess it should probably not be in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/magit (or more generally it should not be in the default load-path). Also, in a later version I'd like to render it obsolete by providing something equivalent (but better integrated) in magit itself. Maybe somewhere in /usr/share/doc/magit or a similar place ? Yann.
